Nvidia.. I'll give it a shot.. But that still doesn't explain the "major" problem of it just not responding and losing the net connection at random intervals..

Well Ive never used Ubuntu except for the live cd so I have no idea. I do know with Redhat EL after a Kernel update it would act all kinds of crazy till I basically refreshed it with reinstalls of drivers. When I get updates, I uncheck the kernel updates.

I don't think I could ever run Linux as my main operating system. Being in the business I am, I always need to stay on top of the latest Windows related things. That being said, I've always loved Linux and what it's stood for, and have been a huge fan since my early computer-loving years.

I got an old HP DV2000 laptop with a bad motherboard, and an old Compaq F500 laptop with a broken screen and a cracked case. I frankensteined them together to get me one decently running laptop that I plan on putting Ubuntu 10.04 on. Actually working on that tonight. I intend to use this laptop as my basic net-browser (since I have two batteries for it) and I figure this would be a decent Linux experiment 'top since it has a nVidia integrated card on it. I've tried this several times before, and always gave up on Linux for one reason or another. But I intend to stick with it on this one.
