I just heard mayor giuliani on tv and he said the nyc lost a "lot" of their police and emergency personnel when the buildings collapsed on them - it's not hard to see that nyc could go into total chaos if there is no fire/police available - i hope they get the guard in there to stabilize and the idiots don't start looting and stuff like that

someone in my office had a relative who flew out of dulles this am - we're pretty sure now that he wasn't on that plane from dulles because it was a non stop to lax.

newsmax.com has some really intreasting stuff. 911 call form hijacked plane among many other things. possable 11 total planes have been jacked...some scarry stuff going on out there today.

i first heard bout this in algebra this morning, and i was like "wtf, u r kidding right!"

completely unbelievable that something this HUGE and well orchestrated would be allowed to happen by the US government

i just got home, and on the radio they said that the US military is on its highest alert level (didnt say, hey, we r canadians), and that a total of 8 planes have been hijacked

borders are pretty much closed, and most of the planes are landing in Pearson Airport in Toronto.

I work for the Federal Govt. in D.C. I was in Georgetown heading downtown when the Pentagon got hit. Didn't see anything but the smoke. It did not take long for the smell of the smoke to cross the Potomac. Got to the office to find that half of the people in my agency had left and it was not long before we were all sent home.

Nothing is in the air over Washington except F-16's. People on the street are looking up every time they hear a fighter overhead, since the sound of an airplane now has a new dimension of fear.

Lots of rumors after the pentagon got hit. People thought the Executive Office Building (next to the White House) got hit, and a building on Capitol Hill got hit. Both rumors turned out to be untrue...

DC is now closed down and in a State of Emergency...

Found out that the military is under condition "delta" which is the highest level possible (Froim local Fox Affiliate).

Also found out the plane that went down in Somerset County near "Jennerstown", (80 miles from Pittsburgh) went straight down and created a large crater. The "911 cell phone call from a plane that was in the process of being hijacked" was from that plane. Was watching local TV stations and many are saying that it crashed at that place since they think the pilot was willing to sacrifice his life than crash into Pittsburgh. Found out there was 45 people on that plane, now all dead.

My thoughts and prayers go out to the estimated 10K+ that died in NY. Heard that as many as 35K people could be in the towers this morning at 9am.

We'll never know for sure, but I'm willing to bet that 4th plane that crashed in Pittsburg was slated for the Captitol Bldg or White House (probably the latter).

Here's why - think about the targets, these people were making a statement (albiet a sick one). Killing people was a side benefit for them - but the main intent was that they wanted to destroy SYMBOLS:

- Pentagon: Symbol of America's military power

- World Trade Center: Symbol of America's financial power

It only makes sense to try to take out the White House or Captiol Building as a symbol of our Political power. Even though loss of life may not have been great and the president was out of town, think of the blow to our PRIDE if the White House had been leveled!

Moreover they have made the statement that that can hit these targets with seeming ease. THink of the phsycological impart. As the previous poster pointed out, people will be cringing in fear whenever they hear a loud jet engine over metropolitan cities for quite some time to come.

NEVER has America been attacked (and this IS an attack whether by nation or terrorist group) on it's mainland. This will have a LOT of deep social and political ramifications down the road.

However, these clowns may find their little plan backfires on them. I think these idiots saw the way we fell apart over the Murrah Building attack and think we'll react the same way. The fact is that was different - we were emotionally let down because it was an American who did it.

Americans always band together and find strength when we're the target of a cowardly act. If they expect us to go crawl into a hole and hide they're mistaken.

While this is tragic it could have been so much worse. What if one of those planes was carrying a bio-weapon (Anthrax bioweapons are known to be on the black market), or even just something like Sarin? Look how far the dust from the World Trade Center building collapse has spread - what if it was toxic?

There's also a fair number of missing tactical backpack nukes from former Soviet republics running around. A VERY chilling though.

We just got a SERIOUS wake-up call folks.
