I love the flag. It's the blood and tears of people and the many lives lost to the idea of freedom that we all as U.S. citizens enjoy to this day - it's an idea that still stands even if the flag is burnt... Burn the flag... ha! We show the world that we don't care if you burn our flag, because the people of the United States still stands strong...
Burn our flag. We do not flinch because of it... We only show you how strong we truly are...

Why would anyone want to burn a flag? They are so cute:

God damnit
Before 9/11, this was a pretty big issue.
After 9/11, I don't believe I've heard of a single american insisting they should have the right to burn the flag...much less hearing of any asshat actually doing so, obviously out of fear of being pummeled well beyond an inch of their life before the edges got too singed.
So I'm confused why this is coming up so many years late.
But I digress...please wrap yourself up in it, and I'll help douse you with kerosene and even light the match for you.

The only reason to burn a flag is when it's hit it's ripe old age, or when it hits the ground. It's called retirement, because you can not throw that symbol in the trash can. Otherwise why am I out here fighting for that symbol. That symbol stands for truth, freedom, and peace.... if you don't like those virtues we'll cram it down your throat. Well that's what I fight for anyways....
Bonus question, what flag flies higer than the us flag?

Anyone know why this has become an issue again? Like someone else pointed out, I havent heard of anyone burning a flag in the US for years now.
Personally, I don't think it should be legal but then what does one do with the flag burner, fine or jail? I think that if you live in the US and feel a need to burn our flag, you should just pack up and move out....go to another country where maybe you'll be happier.

the House voted 286-130 on a measure Wednesday that would give Congress authority to ban desecration of a U.S. flag.
story linkHowever, a law like the one proposed by the senator would likely be challenged in courts because Congress has no clear right to outlaw flag burning. That is why supporters of the ban want to add a one-line amendment to the Constitution that says, "The Congress shall have power to prohibit the physical desecration of the flag of the United States."
the Last time I was Talking to myself . I got into such a heated argument . that is why I swore I never talk to that guy again. you know what it worked now no buddy talking to me.

Hmm try the papal flag from the vatican city. I had to remember that little fact for a board question. It is the only flag to be flown above the us flag, and it's only flown 3" higher. Other than that, Our flag is the highest.Originally posted by badmojo

Bill clinton would like you to define your use of "here"
EDIT:also "a" "the" and "spoking pot"

Congress has tried dozen of times to pass a constitution amendment for not burring the flag, so I think it will stall in the Senate again.
I also have to agree with Red Dawn:
Don't we have more important issues that creating this amendment?

I'm against burning it too but I don't think it should be criminal offense and definitely don't believe there should be an amendment against burning it
