it's gone way down hill i think for the most part

I couldn't agree with you more... I've always been pretty open with music i'll listen to about anything just depends on what kind of mood i'm in... I use to listen to a lot of rap in the late 80's to mid 90's. Since then nothing but shit has came out. Few are so so but other than that nothing sounds good. How many times can the same guy talk about screwing some chick drinkin' his Old English and partying...oh and he's got 10 Escalades with 22's wow oooo so cool... lol... Eminem livened things up with his style. Thats i think a lot of the reason why he's got so many fans. Not only young kids i know people in their 40's who think he's great. And these are people who can't stand rap but like him for some reason. And yeah parents should step up and know what their kids are listening too. Most just don't really care which is the sad part... My parents let me listen to it. But they also knew i wasn't some moron who was gonna go out and do as they say or did... i knew right from wrong... I've always been one who likes to hear the music and not just listen to it...

His lyrics? Hah, I can't stand to even listen to the actual music and his whiny voice let alone try to listen to the words... :)

Pretty much how i feel, that or something to do with hoes. While i have worked with missy elliot, i presonaly think her lyrics and songs arn't very good.

Locally i know of alot of cases where a kid did something just because eminem did, or wanted to be like him. The most vivid case i remember is a 15yr old got some extacy pills, gave them to a girl in his school at a party, she OD'd and passed out, he raped her and she later died in the hospitol. When his parents questioned him he sat there with his hair cut short, bleached, wearing a white t-shrt, crying and said " i wanted to be like eminem, I thought that was cool". Maybe the kid is just loco....maybe his parents didn't notice some kind of problem...maybe it would have happend in a different time, place and way anyways....but I fell kids see him glorifying some of these things. I also think to some extent it's marketed towards kids, and thats not right IMO.

That just shows that kid didn't know his head from his asshole... Lack of parent involvement sticks out in that case something terrible... He should have known better. Only a true moron will think music is something more than entertainment and take it seriously. You would think a 15 yr old would know right from wrong and it sounds like a total cop out to me... Easier to blame it on someone else and wanting to be like them, then just say i screwed up and knew exactly that what i was doing was wrong. There is a reason why there is a Parental Advisory sticker on cd's like his. They are there for a reason. But kids can walk in and buy them. I don't know if you've seen it but Eminems Without Me Video starts out showing a kid stealing one of Eminem's cd's from a store... video goes along him and dre are trying to catch up with the kid and at the end they do and take the cd from him right as he's putting it in his cd player and eminem gives the no no finger... The video won MTV's Music Video of the Year i think... I might be wrong but he won 4 awards that night. I honestly don't think its directly marketed at kids... Eminem even says himself in oen of his songs he wouldn't let his own daughter listen to him... track 19 on his newest cd. My daughter is 3 and i don't listen to it when she's with me. not like she'd really understand much of it though but it isn't something that a 3yr old needs to hear...
