my point is greyhounds are not that big a deal
the reason for that is that they euthenize alot more NON gray hounds
i dont see anyone protesting that
whens the last time you were at the pound saying dont kill the doggies i will take them home
no one does that, they kill all those dogs at the end of the month
it isnt pretty but its the truth
this grayhound thing is a drop in the bucket of which i choose to look away from

I have two problems with what is going on. The first is that I don't agree with raising all these dogs just to kill them once they're past their prime. You can disagree with me there, but my second problem with it is 100% valid (if this article does have the facts straight). The second is with the way these dogs are being killed. The dogs killed in this article were supposed to be killed without pain, with a single gunshot to the head. Instead, some were shot in the mouth or neck, or so the article says, which would cause great agony to the dogs. This is not right no matter how you try to spin it.

I agree, I just think a well placed bullet beats the possible alternative I have presented. Chemical injection would be the best for both parties IMO, less mess.
And like others have said none of this would be an issue if this wasn't done just to get a fast dog. I could give two shits about any type of animal racing. I don't plan to ever have an animal of mine compete and I don't plan on ever attending any animal racing events.
That's exactly the point of trying to stop greyhound racing. The owners treat the dogs like a commodity and when that commodity stops producing they are discarded. Doesn't matter if they die or suffer. Yes some might try a little to get some adopted but they really don't care, they just want more replacements.
So is it right to treat any animals like this? You guys ever been around a greyhound? They are among the most docile and friendly dogs you'll ever see. Laboratory rats are one thing and that's a benefit for us (usually) but since they know most of these dogs are discarded, it is wrong.
And for what, entertainment and so some can gamble. geeez

After a lovely weekend I'm back for more comments.
Ok, ok I agree that if you are going to dispose of a dog a shot to the HEAD and NOT missing would be best or lethal injection. Problem is he has missed at least three times that they have just seen. Unwanted animals is a problem in the US there is no need to have more unwanted animals. Hell, the whole dog show thing is a big crock of shit! Do you know what happens to the dogs that are not best in breed from a litter? they are disposed of. Same crap, different existance. Greyhound racing has it's roots all over the world, we are not the worst country at treating the animals but let me tell you we are still very close to the bottom. You say, it's only a dog, we have other problems in this country and thoes should be fixed first. Gambling is a problem, end greyhound racing and you can start fixing one addiction! I am definitely not a PETA fan nor am I a crazy liberalist, but for Christ sake we are human and should have some sort of responsibility to the other creatures on this planet! Have a freakin heart and get off you pc's once in a while and you will see there are other things to care about in the world.
