poop,

Yup, they are pricey though! :(

Madisound sale section: scroll all the way to the bottom
At least you can argue they are on sale! :D

The Shiva would work pretty well in it....the 12inch Dayton DVC would be pretty great as well :)
I believe the Dayton would go a tad lower though.

Hip,

Pioneer also makes some pretty nice receiver, I'm pretty happy with my 2 year old vsx-d608.

I wish I could say I believe those sensitivity ratings.....but I don't.
I know for a fact that the very woofers use in the $2200 RF-7's (or is it KF-7?) only have a sensitivity of 93.5db....and their rated to 96 or 97db.........

The c-1 center would be better because it can get a bit more bass....and it's more efficient than the sats so it takes less power to get sound out of it (almost always a good thing)

Thanks a ton guys! Here's what I'm thinkin' so far:

Klipsch Quintets (x4 sats)
Klipsch KSC-C1 Center
Klipsch KSW-10/12
Pioneer VSX-D510

I don't know which sub to get....I think it's about a $50 difference on ebay so I'll probably just get the 12 incher then. Unless I get the balls to make one myself. I'll have to look into it, cause I"M all for savin' money :) I'm definitly going to look into recievers too and just evaluate what I need and what I don't need. I don't want to do what my friend did and buy some awsome ass reciever which has features he will NEVER use (it was like a $899 Onkyo reciever and his system doesn't even sound that good  )

But I think the reciever I have up there has everything I want by looking at the specs and it's a good price. I found it for $185 on ebay. It doesn't have any SVideo ins/outs but I think it'll be a long while 'till I get a TV with that and have any real use for it. Here's a link with specs on the reciever. ( front view - rear view )

So unless you guys say otherwise and provide a good reason, this is the setup I'll be getting probably.
One last question, I swear! ;) :) What are some good online retailers for recievers and other HT stuff? TIA :D

PE to the rescue yet again :)

Vance Dickason designed 10inch Titanic 250watt sub kit!

All the info is there in the link.
The 10" Titanic Subwoofer Kit can be fully assembled by even the beginner kit builder in no more than an hour! The Kit contains everything needed for a professional "from the factory" appearance. This complete kit includes: The high excursion 10" Titanic Subwoofer, a high quality low distortion 250 watt Titanic amplifier module, textured black polymer coat finished cabinet enclosure with rigid cross bracing, high quality black chromed spike feet set, internal acoustic dampening material, and all necessary woofer mounting hardware.

It uses the very same amp as my own sub uses. Can't go wrong!

IMO it's a great price :)
The 10inch Dayton Titanic still has 27-28mm of stroke.....believe me, when you (or your friends :D ) see that baby pumping......you = THE PIMP! :)

Onhifi's review of the kit, hosted by PE audioreview.com's reviews of the 12inch Dayton Titanic sub

Hey, but isn't it worth it to spend a bit more cash on much better stuff? :D
You're lucky you don't have to pay a $4000 (CAD, but still!) car insurance bill

True, it's better to spend the extra $$$ and get what you really want. It's only another $100 :D Actually, could that reciever handle it? Or does the reciever really have anything to do with it?

most subs are self-powered by an internal amp (like the ones we're talking about above), so the receiver only needs a sub output...so nothing special is required. most receivers also have adjustable crossovers to help control what frequencies are sent to the sub. the crossover is set depending on what your front speakers can handle in terms of bass, etc. normal crossover range is 80-120Hz.
