Can anyone recommend an MP3 batch normalizer app?

Post by FlyingPenguin »

I have a friend who wants to take all the MP3's he downloads and run them through a program to normalize them.

He's not technically inclined nor does he want to spend much money, also it needs to do SEVERAL MP3 files in an automated batch process at one time.

I use Sound Forge myself, but even if I wanted to (cough cough) loan him a copy of my CD, that's too complex a program for him, and as far as I know you can't do automated batch processing in Sound Forge anyway (I do them one at a time).

Everything else I have only normalized WAV files not MP3 files.

Any suggestions?

Thx...

I use the one with Cool Edit, but I've never seen a freeware stand alone utility to normilze mp3's. Only wav's. Check THIS SITE , maybe you might find something useful there.

Well on another tact - his main concern is normalizing before burning audio CDs from MP3s. Is there an audio CD burner that does normalizing? He wouldn't mind paying for that.

He's using EZ CD Creator 5 now (came with the computer).

Thx

Ah, good point. I'm going through the specs for EZ CD Creator 5 and it seems to have some kind of normalizer.

If you go to http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduct.a ... 36&DEPA=1, you can get a 24x burner WITH a copy of Nero for less than the cost of eassy CD Creator.

Nero comes with the following audio filters:
Normalization
DeClick
Hiss Reduction
Fade In
Fade Out
Stereo Widening
Karaoke
Echo
Equalizer

I just typed the list here. If you want, I can check out what they all do and send the descriptions to ya.

FP Nero worked great... I had 3 songs that were really quiet before and a couple that were way too loud. and all are the same vol as the rest... It was pretty easy to do... Jsut highlight all the songs in the list right click hit properties and select normalize i used RMS at 20%... U can use Max but then you take a chance at clipping.. . The CD turned out really well...

Cool! You're right, Nero 5.5 does have a built-in Normalizer. Thanks!
