I can not think of any free recovery software at the moment that will do the job.
Here is a lik to more info about the difference between basic and dynamic:

Of course it was my computer... and it was my 250 Gig HDD that was full of movies, mp3s, and programs.
I guess that is the downfall of two drives in the same computer of the same size...easy to confuse the two in disc manager. I found a program that seems to be working but will take 3 hours to find files (which it is)... now I just hope it will recover them.

the result:
I tried irecover and it did not 'see' all the files I needed/wanted
So I tried a program called Data Recovery Wizard 2.0 and it did 'see' all the files I needed.
Therefore I purchased the program
Installed the purchased version and 8 hours later I have the data I need.
Lesson learned, when you have two HDDs the same, give a CAREFUL look at the drive you are working on.
Thanks for all your support, especially FP.
Good thing is I built a computer for a friend this weekend and the money I earned went to the program I purchased so I broke even, and now I ACTUALLY OWN a program which I know works.
Backing up on DVD now so it will not happen again.
Again thanks for the support, Long live PCA.

Yeah, I have one system with identical drives and it's always a bit of nail biting when I'm working with an imaging app or Partition Magic to make sure I'm working on the right drive.
