Does anyone know of a reliable freeware data shreddder? I need to completely wipe out all data on a hard disk.
If I can do this via boot disk, even better.

Use any program that writes all zeros to the hard drive 5 times or more (considered a "military" wipe).
Practically impossible to recover that. Warning: the process does take a LONG time (half a day or more depending on the size of the drive).

From what I remember when I ran Deriks (about 2 days ago). You select the partition on the drive, and you select the method. There are about 7 options it has and it describes each one. Select the one you want and hit f10 to start and let it go
