half life 2 runs great at max Rez.

Nothing is wrong with them. their desktops are kind of crappy, but the laptops are pretty nice.

viperoni, from what i have read, emachienes make some of the most solid laptops on the market-
weird how oposite their laptop/desktop construction can be

My 1.4 Ghz Pentium M laptop with 512MB RAM and a Radeon 9000 video card runs Counter-Strike Source at playable rates.

Alrighty, if you guys say so. Actually, we've sold a couple Emachines @ work, haven't had any issues with them that I can remember. Good to know that they're good units

I'm curious to know how well your laptop does with other newer games too, such as Doom3 being that apparently that's a game that really tests a laptops gaming abilities.

I was considering a more expensive gaming laptop, the ABS Mayhem G3 but after reading through all their test results, I'm not so sure that it's worth that kind of cash. It definately seems to have all the right hardware:

played doom3 some. played at 800/600 med quality. played Great

From Toms Hardware tests on the ABS Mayhem which has great hardware specs but costlier, it seems that the only laptops that can play Doom3 at high res. quickly are those that also cost about $3K (ouch!).
