Half_Life 2 is a blast

Post by MAC »

For some reason I never could get into Half-Life, but Half-Life 2 is a blast! The gameplay is just great. Much better than Doom 3. I've just finished the air boat levels and it was a lot of fun. Sometimes I have difficulty figuring out what I need to do to progress past some obstacles, but I just quit and come back later and try new things. So far I've only had to noclip past one obstacle. I will definately replay the air boat levels again.

Wait until you get the buggy. It's just like the air boat. Man, I'm really hooked on the game play. Right now, I'm in the bottom of what looks like a jail, with 3 sentry guns trying to hold off lots of soldiers. Tried 15 times, and I can't get by this part of the game. Not only do I have the soldiers to deal with, but those damn flying blade things are annoying as hell.

When you get to the bridge, the graphics are impressive as hell.

I get vertigo from heights and I know that a game is reaslistic when I get vertigo looking down from a high place in an FPS game. Only 2 other games ever did that to me: Half-Life and the original Dark Forces game.

I had serious problems crossing the bridge - I kept getting vertigo. :)

That damn buggy almost drove me "buggy" last night. For the life of me I could not figure out how to get off the beach. At one point I said "screw it" and started walking, but gave up after a while. Finally, I got out of the buggy and walked around some more and finally figured it out. I really liked the section with the crane.

Hopefully, the folks at id software will play through the game and see what gameplay is really about.

LOL no kidding.

As for the buggy and the crane, I messed up also the first run and left my buggy to far away to be picked up by the crane, so I had to move it. When I did, I was nailed by insects dropping my health to half of what it was before.

That part got me stuck too. Kept running in the water and getting stuck. Had to use that gravity gun to blast it back to the beach, and when I kept flipping it over. :D

That bridge part was excellent. Most realistic part I've seen in a game. And with the wind blowing too. Had a seagull or some bird get damaged when I shot at something. The bird actually walked around acting wounded.

My favorite part of the crane area was spinning around trying to see if I could fling a freight trailer into the ocean.
