Really irks me to see this kind of crap happen, and especially to others.. Like nork said, it's one thing when you can afford the hit, and another when you can't. I really couldn't afford it as it was for an Xmas present which I had to actually tear down one of my own computers to build the gift.. But, alas.. I'm sure others have been hurt much worse.

Sorry to post again but I just feel terrible, it's not just this troll but so many others, and, like i said above, some of us can stand taking a hit, but some just cant, it really sets them back a lot.
The mods and troll-hunters do a "nothing short of fabulous" job but the problem is that, usually, perhaps not in this case, but usually, we mess up right from the start. I see something I want, a good price and I re-act, next thing you know I'm paypaling someone i didn't fully check out. then, when I get burned I turn to the mods and troll-hunters.
With all that i have seen at different fora, i just wonder if we, as traders, should start at the beginning, tighten up our rules and regs, our habits, etc, whatever will work so we dont burn ourselves.
This case, apparently, is different because it's a good trader recently gone bad. But it's only a small, very small percentage of deals gone bad. Usually its as described above, a good trader not following or ignoring the rules of trading, common sense, and getting burned in the process. We always say somethng like: Now I see i should have followed the rules but....
Maybe this post is not exactly the place but maybe it's a start. We need to make changes in the rules. One simple change could help a lot: the trader with the less heatware must ship or pay first, period, make it a definite rule. That rule alone, i bet, would take care of maybe 20-30% of all bad deals, maybe more. If we changed the rules, made them real tough, we would get lots more members from other fora, they would see this forum as one they want to trade on as there are tougher, set rules. Only good people would gravitate here and the bad ones would leave or not come here in the first place. Tougher rules simply produce more good deals and less bad ones, more good traders and less bad ones, but we would have to act together and not get stuck arguing the finer points. This is where they have us right now, in my opinion, and they love it!
Again, pardon me for this post but i just feel really bad for the people who get burned and i keep wondering when my turn is gonna come up on the wheel of misfortune. I cant help but feel we can do a better job of prevention. But the problem is certainly us, and definitely not the mods and troll-hunters, they work very hard for nothing! Imagine the crap they have to deal with, crap dished out by crappy people.

But in this case mario is a long time trader. Not much could have been done differently.

Its one thing coming from one person, but maybe if he is given some consideration from all of his friends here, i know thats hard, but think of what he must be going thru to do what he did to his own friends. Condemning Mario and telling him off wont get him back, maybe talking to him and telling him we're here no matter what, like a friend, maybe that will do it, and if not now, maybe later when he's able. i also think something happened in his life which must have made him use his knowledge as a weapon. the items i purchased from him were for a friend living in the projects who literally could not handle taking even a $100 hit. he came to me to help him save money because his computer broke and he needs it to make the little bit of money he does make. luckily for my friend, i was able to take the hit for him, but if i hadn't been able to do so he literally would have been going door to door begging for whatever work he could find. anyway, hopefully whatever is upside down in his life will turn right side up. when you troll you're not just stealing money, you can be screwing someone over.

Darn, I just wish that it was a normal troll, then some of you people wouldnt feel so hurt, i do know the feeling, i had an employee steal from me, all the while he was telling people I was a great boss and he would never do anything like that, etc, etc. Then he burned me for about $4,000, so i do know the feeling. But, again, he paid the price and i didnt even have to be the reason. His own conscience got him back, i wont go into details, its not for the faint of heart.
