You know, I've sold MANY computers when i worked at Staples... and all the people who were back in the store buying their 2nd computer always had a similar story of how their old comp (purchased as a complete unit from Future shop or Staples or some other store like that) Was always crapping out on them...
that's because comps like those always have manufacturer propaganda smothering the damn PC out!!
HP this, Compaq that... Dell are great PC's and I would take one WELL over any HP, Compa, Sony or what have you.... BUT, nothing beats a great PC you build yourself. The parts have warranty so if in the small likely hood that something DOES go wrong with the part it's replaced anyway...
Some guy at my moms work said that I shouldnt build my own computer cause its a nightmare, he said that the motherboards never work because they wernt tested long enough, so he said that home built computers never work, is he right, or just dumb?
It's only a nightmare if you
A) Don't have a CLUE what you're doing and haven't researched your parts well enough
B) Don't have a great place like PCA with awesome members who can help you out with all your problems

C) Home buillt computer kick major ass because you can customize them way more then you can most store bought complete PC's... alot don't even have an AGP slot in them when you get em from the store....
as well... I have put together at least a dozen or more computers myself and only once had a problem with the motherboard... which was replaced the very next day and after that had NO problems. So I would have to say he's just ignorant

or jealous

or both :up
whew, anyway I think I am done with my novel
*edit*Oh yeah, and if people asked me what I would do in their case, I ALWAYS told the truth about building their own computer and how much better it would be. And I would always tell them they should go to Computer Boulevard (local shop) and build one for cheap

heh heh
