how do you overclock your computer?

because my friends computer got on fire when he was overclocking and i want to do the same to my old computer

Wow an eager overclocker, well to overclock it depends on cpu and motherboard, u can do it on old motherboard by changing the jumpers on the board, on more newer board this is all made possible thru bios. Most computers u can overclock the fsb to make it faster. Never had any board or any computer catch on fire.

First, you need to find a manual for your motherboard. Most OEM motherboard's that you'll fine in Dells, HPs, and crap will have any overclocking features removed. So, if you're thinking about overclocking a computer purchased from Dell, think again.

All depends on your motherboard, so you'd have to find the manual and relaly take a nice close look.

Like others have said, depends on your motherboard. With some you will need to change a jumper but most others you do it in the bios by increasing the fsb, sometimes the miltipliers and voltage for the cpu and ram. Along with other various settings.

we are a community thatloves working on computers, and love to see new people getting involved
I think you should take a little time to learn basc computer hardware before you jump into overclocking.
you can identify your motherboard by looking for text and markings on it, to identify your cpu, use a program like sisoft sandra

Both of them will have enough information to get you started, what kind of cpu and motherboard you have.

If those don't tell you the motherboard info, just look at the motherboard directly and look at ANY markings that would be similar to a model number... GA (signifying the manufacterer (Gigabyte in this case) and some numbers/letters)

You could always look for a seriel number too. Then Google it!
