ok so I'm a water cooling newbie. I've been reading forums and getting some ideas on how to step into watercooling. How does the following sound for a beginning kit?
- Eheim 1048 Pump
- D-tek ProCore + Fan Shroud
- Swiftech MCW5000-A
- 120mm Quad Green LED fan
- 10 ft of PVC 1/2" ID and 3/4" OD 1/8" wall from McMaster-Carr
- Cylindrical Clear Reservoir from DangerDen
- Plastic snap on hose clamps
- Criticool PowerPlant PCI Relay (was gonna go regular relay but it was only a few bucks more and this minimizes cutting my case)
My system currently consists of:
Asus A7N8X Deluxe
AMD Athlon XP 2200+
512MB Corsair XMS PC3200 TWINX (133 @ 2-2-2-4)
2x Maxtor 80GB 7200RPM 8MB cache UATA133 (RAID0 on PCI Promise FastTrak TX2000)
Pioneer 16X Slot-Load DVD-ROM
LiteOn 52/24/52 CD-RW
ATI Radeon 9700 Pro 128MB RAM
Onboard nForce Sound
Onboard 3COM 10/100 NIC
Thermaltake Volcano 9 HSF
I wanna go water due to noise and the fact that the Volcano 9 sucks ass. Basically noise though. I'm going to college and in a dorm room......yikes.
Good? Bad? Ugly?

The benefits of water cooling compared to high-end air are not as great as they once were, but I like water cooling.
Why, in heaven's name do you want to spend $55.00 for a chevette heater core and a shroud with black paint on it.
Get a non-A/C 1986 Chevette heater core from Autozone or any other autoparts store for 16-20 bucks. Go to a stationary or hardware store or variety store and buy and 6 inch square paper clip/storage tray thingie and cut a hole in it. If you must, buy a can of black spray paint. Total cost - $24.00
It makes me nuts to see people spend $50 plus for chevette heater cores......
The Eheim pump is a good call. There is a good deal on a 12 v DC pump available here.
Go to the forums at http://www.procooling.com and check out some of the posts there. There is a lot of good watercooling info there.
