external hd question

Post by sheerdark »

Hello once again all,

I just have a quick question. The ohter day I purchased a Maxtor 3000LE external USB 2.0 Hard Drive Case and I installed my WD120GBSE 8.0MB Cache drive into it. Now, I see on the spec sheet that it came with a 5400 RPM drive from the factory, but I got it w/o the drive. So my question is, whether or not my WDSE drive will be ok, heat wise in this case, since it has no fan to help cool it....what do all you guys think?

Thanks for your input,

Matt

Thanks for your response....it does seem to finally equalize the temps after a few minutes...and it doesn't seem so hot anymore. It has a huge metal plate that the drive sits on...so I would assume that might work as a basic heatsink?
