Stupid HDD question?

Post by swinada »

Does it matter which way a HDD is installed? I have a Maxtor 60 GB 740 Diamond Max, and it would fit better in the case upside down, would this damage the Disk over time? I know it works, for that is the way she is mounted right now, but am I asking for trouble down the road?

Back in the 4gb era you could only mount them on their side or right side up or you'd waer out the spindle bearing prematurely.

Modern drives can sit in any position.
