An idea... Would you use this?
I dont know if you have seen my "fan bus" that i made... but its totaly modular. HOW? I took an old CDROM and gutted it and put all my electronics in it. thus... i can move it from machine to machine with minamal problems. It has a molex in and several 2 pin connectors out. as well as the headder for the HD. I can still add stuff to it as long as i have room in the CDrom. that woudl be the best way to make it.
I also have a floppy "cage" that i plan to make a 3.5" version of the same "bus". It will have a pair ove 10 segment led VU meters in it. Its totaly useless... but it will look cool.

My whole point of the project is to prove a theory of mine. That it's more important to have air flow properly directed, then it is to just have a huge CFM flowing through the case.
You could consider it active cooling with a brain. Add in fan's that can pivot on 2 axis and baffling that also moves and you'd have total control over where the air flows.
Eventually, I want to create a machine you can overclock as much as you want, yet remains almost totally silent. Just by directing the air around in a specific manner. Sort of like the airplane wing concept.
You move the wing up and down, and it increases and decreases lift, letting you go up and down. It's a far out in space concept, but if I can get just the basics, I think it could take off.
(And if that fails, well, I still have my electroluminescent watercooling rig as a good backup)
In fact, I already have a watercooling module in the back of my mind too hehe.
Main system controls Fans.
Addon's for an LED controller. A watercooling controller. And all the software is under the GPL, so you can write you own programs for it as well as fix anything in the current one you don't like!

ok on the lines of EL water cooling....
i know they make an additive to make the water glow with UV light...
why not make a additive to the water, then add electricity and the waer lights up. not just a glow.. but actually emits light. just another ideal... maybe grind up some EL stuff and put it in the water.

Water cooling may become a thing of the past.
I am working on my theory that heat is a radiant subsonic thermal longwave reaction to genernutronic
