laptops

Post by Bear »

A guy at work has a Compac Presario 1200 laptop that is only a couple of years old. When he first turns it on he gets 2 series of 3 beeps...... then one beep. Then nothing. I know the beeps mean something....but what? I told him I would post this on this forum so any feedback is welcome and appreciated.

buy the march issue of Maximum PC, has a thing about beep codes in it. ......
but then it wont do you much good if your beep code is 3-3-1,(is it really 3-3-1) cause this one isnt listed.
It lists the codes for AMI, Award and Phoenix Bios beep codes.

To be honest, nowdays any beep codes are usually memory or video card errors. Award BIOS only has 1 beep code now, meaning cideo display is borked. Everything else it spits up on screen.

Did some searching, maybe this is it?
If it isnt that, then I'm not sure, as all the Compaq's have are 4 sets of beeps.

To prevent the unit from producing the 3-1 error code, down load ROM revision F.0E (SP19395.exe) or later.
