Whole line bad on Lappy Screen !

Post by RubberDuckie »

Anyone heard of this?
I was working on my laptop (it is 3 years old) and all of a sudden, a whole vertical line went bad. I mean like a dead pixel, but one whole line. It is bad in BIOS and windows, so I believe it is hardware.
I have heard of pixels going bad, but a whole vertical line of pixels!??!?!?

could it be fixable?

You probably lost a driver transistor for a whole column. Sorry, 'fraid it's not fixable :(

Question: If I were to replace the screen would that fix it? or are the Transistors you talk about on the mobo?

It's in the screen. Replacing the screen will fix it.

prolly be cheaper to just buy a new lappy then to replace the screen, though.
