damn virus strikes again

dammit dammit dammit......i fucking hate these damned viruses

I just updated and scanned this system now........there are 4 viruses

-kernel32 is a trojan
-winampw.exe is a trojan
-winxp keygen.exe is a trojan
-temp/probe.exe is a trojan


So i quarentine the winampw.exe file and then I couldnt open ANY programs. IE said it was missing the file, same with notepad, paint, run, msconfig. But the program will open with any file.
Glad i still had IE opened before i quarentined that. So i found the answer. Deleted that winampw.exe file.

Now I gotta get rid of probe and winxpkeygen.exe via command

but I am a bit curious about the kernel32 one..... Isnt kernel32 a needed windows file?

well.....i got it all taken care of

as it turns out....the file I was looking for was kernel32.exe cause mine was infected with a virus

but with a little help adn some reading.....it turns out that this file IS the virus. No healthy system should have kernel32.exe

so I deleted it, edited the reg keys for it, and all is now good

i have taken to running norton and grisoft and all my important machines - i got an email the other day which contained three viruses -

You should be using MailWasher to pre-scan all your email. This program also will mark messages as a possible virus. This is all done at the server, not on your machine when you typically download your email to your email client software.

By preveiwing your email, you can then delete and bounce them at the server. The best part about mail washer is it's free.

Not a doubt, mailwasher is one of the best free apps ever and one of the most useful. It's saved me not only from many viri but many many spam emails. I love bouncing them back to them.

And it's easy to use. Now I never check my inbox till mailwasher has done it's checking first.

For a second I got excited, then found out it doesn't support IMAP =\. Oh well, I'll stick to PINE I suppose, guarantees me I won't ever get an email virii, and since I stopped looking outlook a year ago I've never had a single problem

Mail washer is a great app. I did runinto a little problem bouncing spam back.
Here's my story. I was getting a lot of e-mail from people asking me to take them off the "List". I didn't understand what they were talking about so as I was doing I just kept bouncing and deleting the messages. One day I got an e-mail from a distraught lady saying something to the effect 'In the name of Jesus please stop sending me this stuff!'. Well I started wondering just what the hell was going on sooooo I started looking at all of the past headers from these other people and they were all from my same ISP. I about shit myself when I realized when I bounced the spam it went allover the pop server. Needless to say I had written many apoligies with an explaination and now just check off the delete box. The problem's solved but I guess now some people are under the impression I need viagra,penis enlargement and a mortgage....:laugh
