Good story about MMORPG addiction

I found this story yesterday and find it quite interesting and correct, especially since I'm a former EverCrack addict

People have worse entertainment addictions than playing computer games. If I am going to be addicted to something, I would choose online gaming over drugs, bowling, gambling, television, or being a baseball fanatic easily. I don’t have to wear ugly shoes, lose my hard earned money or do the wave next to someone I don’t know and that just about makes it a no-brainer for me. It IS after all just a video game, like Neal describes in his great novel, Snow Crash. It is just another amusement park.

Any other (former) MMORPG addicts in here ?

Seems like folks can become addicted to anything imaginable.

A good article which talks about why people get into it {respect, escapement, interaction}.

I gave Asheron's Call a try in October of last year. It was my first MMORPG and I was hooked. I still play it now and that explains my absence from these boards.

Currently a level 78 3 school UA if that matters....

Nice Article to show my wife

I play DAoC.. i have a few characters ... 46 Berzerker...27 Wizzard...14 Bard to name a few... Im hooked in a sence... but never henders my work. DAoC is a great game and wonderfull GFX/Sounds with new Ambient Sounds.. Really nice game. try it free from a month.

I want to start playing a MMORPG again in the near future but I better wait till I find a job, otherwise I might get lost in the game and not search for work anymore
