Just curious why you are laying the blame on WinDVD? Have you tried any other software to see if they do the same thing?

Using WinDVD 2000 here on Win2K with no probs. Greg, you may need to re-install WinDVD if you changed vid cards. I think WinDVD tunes itself to the card the first time you run it.

However I just saw the new Power DVD XP running on a friend's system and I think I'm going to switch to it.

A lot of nice features, one of the nicest being that PowerDVD remembers where you last stopped playing any DVD you've ever played, and offers to resume where you left off. I'm sick of WinDVD's bookmarks.

Trust me...its Win DVD.

I dont tweak an ati card...it works flawlessly with out having to dick with it. Oh, and it is a real verson jackass. Whats the point of insulting before asking...it gets pretty annoying. besides I put my name at the end of every post...learn to get it right.

win dvd sucks! I refuse to use it any longer...there cant be a worse dvd program.

who cares if it is a resourse hog as long as it doesnt stutter....Maybe I have jsut been spoiled by the quality and complete nes of the ati products...maby one day NVdvd will be released...if they ever figgure it out.

ROFLMAO Go GREG!!! I've always had good luck with Power DVD myself and its probably that wonderful nvidiot card a little bit too... I love my Radeon 8500 you couldn't put a nvidia card in my system if it was the only 3d card on the market. :D

No, you will not here. ;)

I prefer Powerdvd mainly because of how it does save where you were in a movie as FP said and plus you can take screenshots with it. Just runs better on my systems too than windvd.

Funny how different people have different experiences with software. I have not tried the newer version of PowerDVD you guys are talking about but the older version 3.0 I think was terrible on my computer. I might has well been watching a slide show. I have WinDVD on two systems and it works great of me. One is a P3 750 with a GeForce2 Pro not exactly a horsepower monster if you know what I mean.

I tried WinDVD when I first got my DVD-ROM, it never played a DVD movie. I got Power DVD and it worked immediately.

Its true bubsy, win dvd for some reason does not like playing certain dvd's. Power DVD runs everything smoothly.

Okay, I gotta go with Nexus on this. I just uninstalled WinDVD 2000 and installed PowerDVD XP.

I've been nagged by an occasional sluggishness in the desktop. Nothing major, but annoying. Sometimes an Explorer window will just hang for several seconds with no drive activity before it opens. Or a menu will be sluggish to open.

Kind of pissing me off since this is a fairly recent and very clean Win2K install, and there's no reason my desktop should lag on a P3-1000 with 512Mb.

As soon as I uninstalled WinDVD it hasn't happened anymore and the desktop feels a lot snappier. Installing PowerDVD didn't hurt anything, and I DO like the new PowerDVD's features.

The king is dead.... long live the King! :)
