Just got a WD 120 Gig SE drive with the 8 megs of cache today. Curious what your getting in Sandra and HD Tach my scores are below. This drive is nice... Don't notice any difference between it and the Raid 0 i was using before.

HD Tach seems about right for a single drive. The sequential speeds staying at a solid rate, not going up and down is what the 8MB of cache does, if I am correct.

Hey i picked up a 120GB JB also... did a fresh install, but not currently using it.

my old setup was 2 30.7GB 5400/ata66 on a Raid0, which was plenty fast, but I'm running out of room. Dont have time to ghost over my partitions though. I'll do that one of these days.

The yare nice drives.. damn fast for a single ATA100 drive... that 8megs cache really helps them out... I wonder why more manufacturer's don't start using a lil more cache on their drives...

I have the 800JB. Havent done a sandra or hdtach test, but i know its a lot faster. Tasks goes much quicker... like, setting user security on folders with lots of files and copying between drives finishes way quicker than my old 18GB :) I'm happy :)
