just great... i think i fried my CPU and mobo just now...
now when the CPU is in, there's no beeps whatsoever.... dead CPU...
and to make things worse... when i try a working CPU on the mobo... i get one short beep and a long one and it turns the system off afterwards...
SUCKS!!!!

Did you turn off the power switch on the BACK of the power supply while you were working? Even with the front power switch turned off, there's "keep alive" voltage going through the board and you can still fry it by grounding an energized solder trace (been there, done that).
You also need to be careful not to press down to hard on the mobo or you'll crack an internal foil trace (been there, done that as well).
If it's actually beeping with the second CPU I tend to doubt the Mobo's fried. A beep code means that the BIOS is running, it just can't initialize find the display device, or can't get far enough in it's boot strap process to initialize the display to give you an error message.
Make sure everything is properly seated (ram, CPU, vid card). Pull any other cards.
Make sure your switch, speaker and LED light wires are connected to the proper headers.
Disconnect EVERYTHING except the power switch and mobo power supply cable. Pull ALL other cables from the mobo and disconnect all drives from the power supply. Install only the ram, CPU and vid card making sure everything is properly seated.
Hope this helps....

are you using a fan on it? with a speed sensor wire. if not it could be the fan off control its default setting is enabled so if no fan is present on cpu fan1 plug it beeps and shuts down hold insert key while booting to bypass it.

Now that does suk bigtime!
I remember you had to bend some resisters to make the zen fit so I just wonder if that's related to this problem.

the fan was working fine....
dunno what could've happened... the bending was no problem... in fact... nothing touched nearby resistors during the removal and replacement of the hs/f... i guess i could look at this as an opportunity to try out the much touted xp333... but i REALLY loved my dragon...
thank god my tax refund just arrived this friday...
this just comes at a very inopportune time though... i'm finishing up my writeup on the soyo sy-k7ada but ALL my pics were just moved into my s/w RAID drives on the PC from my laptop... now THAT sucks big time...
you guys all done w/ your taxes yet?

stupid me.... it seems that FOC is enabled by default...ergo the stupid system shuts off everytime cuz i've been plugging the cpu fan into cpu fan2 socket (my zen uses both plugs cuz it has 2 fans)
so now my situation is the CPU is still fried.. (back to my trusting AYHJA tbird 1.4) and no IWill to play w/.. better email newegg before they ship it out...

well thats good to ehar the mobo ain't toast.... Those are spendy boards to be frying... STill sucks about the chip though
Anyone notice with the XP chips that they are different colors... I've had 2 different 1700+ first one was a ugly tan/brown color 2nd one is green... Not like u can see them anyways with a HSF mounted on top.
