every like 6 hours my windows nt server 4.0 resets itself randomly what is causing this

Sounds like a faulty power supply to me. Wattage drop = reboot.

That or a PCI IRQ channel sharing problem, but if so I would think it would happen more often.

What PCI cards do you have installed? Since it's a server shouldn't be anything in there except the NIC and maybe a hard drive controller I would think. Try moving the NIC to a different slot.

will try moving a pci slot. it only has nic everything else video and sound is onboard.

i dont think its faulty powersupply because i used the same one for like 6to8months on anohter pc

Is the sound card an SBLive? SBLive is VERY prone to the problem I mentioned.

i think it could be internet explorer

i have noticed thats it only happens when i am using internet explorer 6.0 maybe i will try netscape

installed netscape and computer does not reset itself what other good browsers are out there

it still resets itself. i set the option on windows nt to tell me when error occurs and not to reboot

Does it ONLY happen when using the network? That would lead me to believe it's a PCI IRQ channel sharing problem with the NIC.

its been stable for four hours now

i set the option to not reset itself when it makes errors but instead send message to admin which is me and log in the error ever since i set the option to that its been stable as a rock

error happens while i am browsing using internet explorerto browse on the internet like for example i go to pc abusers i click on general hardware it resets itself

Does it tell you what the error is?

Could be a Javascript engine problem.
