Anyone heard of this before

I have an old Abit BX133 RAID MoBo, that has had a PIII 733/133 in it for about two years. The other day I power it on, and nothing.....the fans spin up but nothing else does. No HD nothing. So I try the usual things...remove boards etc....no luck. Last thing I try is the proc. I put in an old Celeron 533, and Bingo it fires right up..... Okay bad proc right??? I go out, and buy a new one... 1000Mhz/133. The board can handle it bus, and multiplier. I put it in, and no good. Put the celron back in, and it works fine...... The board refuses to work with a PIII, but works just fine with a celeron.

Any Ideas????

that is weird. the 533 cele is actually a non-cu core i think, so something might have pooched in your bios which allowed you to run cumines - only idea i have -

There was a PPGA and a FC-PGA celeron 533... One the old core the other the cu core... To me sounds like something is wrong with the bios or maybe the clock gen on the board is dieing and can't handle 133 anyore... hard saying...

Yeah, It is the old core Cel 533.

What gets me as well, is I went out and bought a new 1GHz PIII, and the 733 is fine. I tested it at work, and it is fine. So I guess now I will have to go out and get a new MoBo, and put together another machine...... I mean I have the cpu right????
