Microsoft Defender scares admins with Emotet false positives

Post by FlyingPenguin »

This just happened to me, which is why I researched it and found this article. Opening an Excel spreadsheet (same spreadsheet I use every year with my Xmas card list) and it triggered. It didn't keep me from opening the spreadsheet, just gave me a Defender alert and when I checked the log, it said it killed two processes running Win32/PowEmotet.SB
