Two serious security patches for HEVC codecs to be released via Microsoft Store

Post by FlyingPenguin »

Interestingly, I found out that this codec is NOT built into Windows 10 versions prior to 1809 so I don't have it on my two 1803 systems.

It's a pretty bad exploit that can be exploited using a specially crafted video file. The security patches for it will only be delivered as updates via the Microsoft Store. You may want to check to see if your Store app is configured for auto updates:

Hmm, I'll need to check the Kodi forums to see if anyone is talking about it there.
