Windows PCs can be hijacked through Notepad

Sigh. Being patched in this week's patches if you feel like playing Russian Roulette with updates.

I'm not sure if it would defeat something like this, but a good way to protect yourself is to NOT be an admin user on your PC.

I am not admin on any of my PCs except the file server. I also defer security updates for 30 days. Let everyone else be guinea pigs. I feel fairly confident that my system is secure from most malware and attacks if I'm a limited user.

A policy I follow for super users (IT, Developers, etc...) that require admin rights on their PC is for them to have 2 users. A regular user that they use the majority of the time and a super user that they can elevate to when needed. I prefix it with s-
