I never mess with .doc files, so now I just got a legal document in .docx format. mackme

How do I correctly open that .docx file? I used wordpad in Win7 and it opened but said something about not all parts may have worked.
Well I can read the whole thing fine, but all the Blanks are empty

I'm pretty sure the company would have filled in the blanks, like how much they will pay me and what they get , but then again some companies

I figure maybe the blanks are what did not open correctly, and those are important details of course.

I'm certainly not going to sign anything without all the blanks filled in LOL

But really, this is a legit deal for the form I need to read and sign, but all the blanks are empty, and of course I won't sign anything with open blanks!

If you don't have office, install Open Office: http://www.openoffice.org/

Open office natively supports the format. However, opening docx files in older versions of Word 2007 and earlier and Open office may cause some of the formatting to be lost from the original document.

I really wish businesses would stop updating to the newest junk because it's just new stuff. For a plain forms like this the old formats worked fine years ago and anyone could use them without problems!

For a simple boilerplate contract like this the stuff I had in WIN 3.1 would have worked as well as anything else!

What was that called back then? Microsoft works? Had tons of options, did all kinds of things, and about the only thing of Microsofts that actually Worked LOL

I guess looking at recent stuff, they had to do away with "Microsoft Works" because that could be considered false advertising since rarely anything of Microsoft Works LOL

I installed both Open Office and the Viewer now,
Looks like they did send me a form with blanks.
Well, I don't sign anything with blanks so I think I'll skip the deal this time round.

Oh, and though I was joking about the scams thing of course, this was a legit deal I had talked to them over the phone about a couple times, and told them to send the contract for me to look at.
Can't believe the contract has so many blanks though. I expected it filled in and just need signed.
