I am new to the 64bit OS. I have always used 32bit with AVG Free.

Should I continue to use the 32bit AVG or is there a 64bit Antivirus ?

Eset's Nod32, despite the name, has a 64 bit version. I use it and really like it. It scans very fast and is low on resources. You can get a free 30 trial to see if you like it. If you buy it, Eset will send you a username and password to enter into the AV program. This will activate the licence.

NO32 is da bomb. I think it has to be one of the best AV programs out there.

AVG works with 32 or 64bit operating systems. So does AntiVir Free and Microsoft's free AV.

dont use eset if u leave your machibne on 24/7 memoryleaks like a mofo.

I use Norton Antivirus 2010. Works fine in Windows 7 64 bit. Nice interface, low resource user, always ranks high in reliability and effectiveness. Small footprint like 2009 (which were a nice departure from previous to 2009 versions that used more resources). Lots of Norton haters still out there (and I suspect this post will bring out some Norton bashing as well as any post with the word Norton in it usually does) who won't let go of the past in regards to how Norton was. It's a completely different animal now.

Norton has come a long way I will agree. I personally use symantec corporate 10.298. There is a version for 64bit as well. The symantec endpoint protection isnt bad either, just uses a little more resources, probably same compared to the lightest norton settings.

Norton for myself. Antivir has been good if you disable the popups.
