FF is on more machines, and as such security organizations are scrutinizing it for flaws more closely now. Meanwhile hackers are more an more desperate to find ways to hack your system.
What's encouraging is that FF releases fixes for newly discovered exploits very quickly. Microsoft sometimes takes a long time to patch an exploit.
