I am currently going through an ugly separation with my wife. I am almost certain that she has tapped my home phone line and I am wondering if there is anyway that a computer savvy person can actually record or obtain transcripts of my ICQ chats. A good friend of mine is a lawyer and we sometimes strategize on line and I would hate for my wife to know what is being discussed.
I know that ICQ stores a copy of each chat session on my HD but I was wondering if someone at a remote location could monitor what was being discussed on my computer via the internet some how.

I think the only ways one can do that is if they either sent you a trojan or if you use WinXP and you have remote assistance turned on. Right click on my computer icon and then remote. If you use XP it is possible she turned that on before and if so she could be monitoring you. I've yet to use remote access so I don't know if that's the way it works or not though.

Not too sure about the ICQ thing I would think it is possible but I would not have a clue how or how to stop it. As for tapping your phone line isn't that a federal offense? If she is dong that and you can prove it her ass is grass and you are the lawn mower. I have been thru two divorces both of them were really pretty easy but still were not fun and pretty painful for all involved. Keep you head and think before you speak. Good Luck.

if you are concerned about your home lines, get them checked.
i'm sure you have already changed all your accounts and passwords for icq, etc, and have heavy duty anti-virus, firewall, etc. on your puter.
