I had to delete my desktop folder from another login (i put it on the desktop). Not exactly sure what I lost, but definately put this somewhere thats NOT anywhere important.

Even if it open the desktop folder from the recycle bin it is fubar. Really wierd...

Took me all of 2 minutes to find this...
Big Red Warning!

The trick appears to work on both the 32 and 64-bit versions of Windows 7. Vista 32-bit and Windows Server 2008 32-bit should also work. However, it is known to crash 64-bit versions of Vista — and you may need to boot in safe mode or to the command line to delete the folder.

I saw that warning posted somewhere about the 64-bit Vista version earlier. I think it's on the link I posted above.

Yeah I got it working again. Took a couple minutes. Probably was listed in the link but I was hasty in trying it. No big problem. Never seen explored crash quite so badly lol.

That's always scary. Glad you got it back up. I'd hate to think my suggestion ended up messing up someone's computer (or at least to the point where it was hours of work to get working again).

WOW, Thanks

Something new for me to wreck another PC with :)
Just tried it on my Vista32 home basic on the laptop, got 246 items showing in the folder to go play with now LOL

Lucky for me I just did 2 full copies and backups of this system and a restore to factory default last night also. If I wreck it I can restore it :)

About to give it to my kid so I went for deleting all my stuff and restoring to factory default and deleting the factory installed trash. Almost have all the important stuff back on it like AV, Anti Spyware, firewalls, newest Firefox etc...
