i have run xp pro sp2 on some pII lappys in the 350-400mhz range. i tried to install once on a pII 266 and it was a PITA to get it to take the NT kernel; kept getting stop errors and wound up putting win98 back on it.
xp will run almost decent on those 350mhz pII's and up, but only with 256 MB ram or more would it be worth it.
i ran win 2000 pro on a pII i think it was 400 or 450mhz with 256 MB ram and it was slick - like butta.
i wonder how well these things would run as something like a NT terminal client...?

Ive installed XP on a few old laptops similar to the one mentioned, and XP will work, but depends on each persons definition of "work". FP is right about all the "eye candy" too. From what I have seen and witnessed, XP needs at least 128 mb of mem to run ok with all the crap left at default. The minute you open an app though...................................................You will be thinking "should have installed Windows 2000". I agree xp will run, but not near as smoothly as 2000 on a slow machine. I also noticed that (maybe its just me) that fat 32 runs quicker on a slow machine with low mem.
