Speed of Windows 2000

Post by Intel »

I am running Windows 2000 Professional on a 1GHz Pentium III processor, with 128MB RAM. Sometimes it is slow - windows take a long time to open, and it takes a long time to respond. Is there anything I can do to make it run faster?

probably more memory would help a lot - my win2k box uses 234/512 mb of memory running folding/surfing

i think 256 is about the minimum that works well

i've run 512 in this box for some time and never have any memory issues

Ditto. I would consider 256Mb the minimum for Win2K or XP. If you check your Commit memory in the performance tab of the task manager, you'll probably find you're using nearly ALL your 128Mb.

I have also noticed it slows down on loading time on XP/2k if i dont defrag the hd for long time. When was the last time you defragged the Hardrive?
