Just wondering which Celeron chip you guys reccomend. I want to upgrade soon then give this system to the kids when I get my new one from work in the fall or so.
SO I want to keep the ABIT BH 6 no matter what.
What celeron is best for overclocking? I only want to do 100 mhz fsb.
Its been a while since I messed with this stuff so I dont know which chips are stable or overclockable etc...
Here are some prices I got locally.
Intel Celeron 633 Mhz Retail Box With Fan FCPGA (Flip Chip) (Coppermine) $104.00
CPU Intel Celeron 667 Mhz Retail Box With Fan FCPGA (Flip Chip) (Coppermine) $107.00
CPU Intel Celeron 700 Mhz Retail Box With Fan FCPGA (Flip Chip) (Coppermine) $119.00
CPU Intel Celeron 733 Mhz Retail Box With Fan FCPGA (Flip Chip) (Coppermine) $141.00
CPU Intel Celeron 766 Mhz Retail Box With Fan FCPGA (Flip Chip) (Coppermine) $144.00
CPU Intel Celeron 800 Mhz Retail Box With Fan FCPGA (Flip Chip) (Coppermine) $174.00
CPU Intel Celeron 850 Mhz Retail Box With Fan FCPGA (Flip Chip) (Coppermine) $255.00
Which one is best for my mobo and what adapters etc would I need?
thanks again

actually, I think the 533 and the 566 are the best for just jumping onto the 100 fsb. See if you can find an older one around somewhere. Have heard it was harder to get those new, faster ones up to 100 as easily. Check out the
http://www.overclockers.com cpu data base as to what kind of luck they had with various cpu's.

Thanks Septha that site is great for info...
I dont know if I can find a 566 anymore...I could have had one 5 months ago but I thought a higher cpu was better...

well, from looking at the database, seems many of them are getting good results from the 633's, so may be worth a shot. Check the stepping and see what you can find. I noticed that the big numbers are guys with H2O cooling and TEC's it seems. Pretty extreme stuff for a Celly.

If you're looking to get a Celeron and overclock it your best bet is probably to get a CII566. I knew many people that get those chips to 850 and over with just a standard heatsink/fan. They tend to be the most overclockable CII's. You may want to watch out with the flip chips in the BH6 however. As far as I know ABit doesn't officially support them on the BH6 (nor do they 'officially' support o/c'ing either though) and I know a number of people that have ended up with damaged boards and chips after trying a high speed flip chip. Make sure that you get a high quality slot1/flip chip adapter and check reviews for bios config setting and other misc issues.
If you're willing to spend that much money on a chip why not just get a compatible high speed PIII? If you're willing to go as high as $255 for a CII850 why not just get a PIII700? Odds are it will give you better preformance running at a natural 100 (or 133) FSB. I have to admit I am a big Celery guy myself but it's an option you might want to look into.
Gotta love the BH6 :-) I have one of myself, I'm currently running a 366a@458 on an 83Mhz FSB. I can push the FSB up as far as 133 (with increase in voltage) but since it's summer here and the house doesn't have AC it can get pretty hot so I let the chip run at a respectable 458 at the default voltage. I also have a 300a that I have gone so far as to o/c to a 100MHz FSB (pretty sure it can even go high but havn't tried) so I'm looking into buying a second BH6 for that chip to make some kind of server.
Hope this helps a little.

C2 566 are the best for overclocking, mine would run 1055@1.95v air cooled.

My Celly 2 566 will post at over 1ghz. Runs solid at 920mhz. Will loadwindows at 936mhz but err0rs. At 928 mhz it kicks me out of counterstrike and I CANT HAVE THAT lol. So I dropeed it down 1 more fsb to 920 mhz and no problems yet. This is on a Gorb too.
