I swapped out the old standard fan from the Alpha PeP66 and put one of those slice and dice sound machine Delta fans on it. Have seen little difference in temps, lots of extra noise though, hehe. It's blowing down, same as the other one. Shouldn't I get at least a little better performance for all that noise? Is it possible that the sink just can't transfer any more heat, regardless of cfm's on it? It's a P3 700 @ 933 @ 1.7 volts, though MBM is showing about 1.73 V. Anybody else get similar/better/worse results?
thanks,

try reversing the fan. your airflow just might be recirculating the hot air around the cpu.

I think smb is right and the Alphas are designed to have the fans pulling air off of the heatsink instead of blowin air onto them. Might help the noise and performance, it is worth a try anyway

I can do better with the Delta on the old GW H/S than the Alpha it seems. Was a couple degrees warmer pulling air than pushing it. Wide open it stays around 114 -118 with the Global Win. I can live with that. Long as it stays stable. Using Arctic Silver on it to. This cpu has always ran a bit warm for some reason. Appreciate the advice though.
