Tualatin CPU

Sorry for my ignorance(never had a Pentium III before))*but does a Tualatin processor have to be in a Tualatin capable motherboard? What's the difference between the Tualatin and a regular Skt 370 processor? And will a regular celeron work in a Tualatin motherboard?

A regular celeron should work in a Tualatin motherboard. A tualatin draws more power at a lower voltage than a regular socket 370 celeron and the pinouts are different. You can get adapters that will allow you to use a tualatin in socket 370 boards and even some slot 1 boards.

I am using a tualatin in a socket 370 board with an adapter in a folding rig. The same cpu was in a slot 1 board with an adapter but the increased power requirements of the tualatin fried the board....
