They run at lower voltage ( 1.45) for the rated speed. Have the same Barton core and are unlocked for multiplier, unlike the newer desktop Bartons. That's what make them such sweet overclockers, from what people are posting. Should run in any mobo that a Barton will work in.

I was at newegg, and saw the prices and wonder which is actually better.

Mobile 2500XP $98 but it shows to only be 266FSB
Normal 2500XP $80 and thats 333fsb.

I go for the higher FSB and lower price. Are some of the mobiles also 333fsb? Was the 2500XP one that came out as both bus speeds?

What he said........^^^^

Spend the extra green and get the mobile XP. Keep in mind that on some KT600 mobo's ( MSI KT6's in particular ) the mobile xp's won't run at different multipliers. If you're using an nforce2 they all run whatever multi and/or FSB you care to throw at them.

Desktop Barton's are fine chips but they max out at about 2.33 or 2.4 GHz if you're lucky. Not to mention that the newer versions ( past week 39 /2003 ) are locked at the 11x multiplier.

The mobile Barton 2500+ XP's are a good shot to hit 2.4 and even 2.5,2.6 GHz with a good fan/HS and case cooling.

I sprung for the mobile 2600+ and it runs 2.6 GHz/ 12 x 217 FSB ( 434 ). A bit more expensive @ $108-112 but it's a baitch of a CPU. :D

been having some issues with mine - 2400 mobile - on the multi

i am using pc2700 and can't get much past 172 and it doesn't want to post above a 12.5 multi - i have older nf2 board so that may be an issue - 8rda+ rev 1.x

the huge benefit so far is the lower voltage/lower temps - I am currently stable at 2.1 @ 1.5v  @37C folding - after serious gaming it goes upt to 39C :)

Not real familiar w/ the Epox nforcers but maybe a BIOS update might help? I had some issues getting my DFI Infinity stable @ 200 FSB until I flashed to an updated beta BIOS and then all hell broke loose ( in a good way. :D ), in that it gave me the 12.5x multi, stability at and over 200FSB, and some other OCing goodies not present in the BIOS that shipped w/ the mobo.

Worth a shot if you haven't done it.

Well, I have mine (Barton) stable at 2.3ghz 1.7v. 38*C full load (pending room temps). And I'd heard rumors that the 8RDA+ didn't play well with Corair XMS memmory @ 200FSB mine works miracles :) Love my 8RDA+ best board I've had to date.. :)

btw.. NICE OCs Guys.. :)

wvjohn,
There were some newer bios changes that supposedly "cured" Corsair problems on the 8RDA mobo's. But most of the Rev. 1 mobo's needed a hard wire voltage mod to get high FSB out of them. That info can be found at amdmb.com. Don't remember what exactly had to be done........

Most I ever got out of mine was about 180 something with stability, on an early version.....

it has the latest bios - my ps may be getting old - i had a 2100 that i ran at a 210 fsb on it - i'm getting anomalies on the 3v rail - if i can push it up a little more without effort i'll do so - i've also got 3 sticks of mixed 2700 in there - need to get some of that buffalo stuff you all were buying that will run 220 :)
