I recently aquired a Thermal electric cooler from an old cooler
it was a HUGE cooler and at first I was thinking what's the point? the TEC must be huge as well...
not so! it's an inch and a half by an inch and a half!! problem is the cooler wasn't working properly... which I later found out that one of the tec's wires came off... the ground wire

now here's my Q: Is there anyway I can stick that puppy back on there??
if I solder it on I'm sure the tec will get hot enough to melt the solder... but it's such a small spot I can't do anything else...
is there some sort of conductive liquid weld that I can slap on and let dry??
windshield repair kit?? (just thought of that )

it broke right off at the TEC? if so i dont know.. i never had one to play with. but what i do know is they require a ton of 12V amps... like 25+ to work properly.

why is that? this tec is from one of those coolers you can plug into your cars lighter port

it depends on the cooler.. but i know of a few that have a rated draw of 75 amps. why do you think when you get a TEC for a computer it normaly comes with its own PSU? It takes power to run one of them things. thats the main reason i think that i havent bother to mess with them. i dont have any powersupplys that big... i guess i could use a regular car battery to experiment, but at about 20 dollars each that alot of money at the moment to be experimenting with.

after googling and looking around the smaller ones only require like 5-10 amps... i guess the ones i was reading about were capabile of a much greater differance in tempture on each side. the small ones can do about a 50 degre differance, but you can stack them to get a greater differance. the old ones i was looking at could get one side down to about -80 F and the other up to about 275-350 F.

wonder if I could somehow get this thing goin to see what it can do...

like i said... i never bought it cause i didnt have a supply big enuff... plus at the time my parents were ordering all my parts for me and they just happend to ask about this one that costed 30 dollars and when they learnt it could do what it did they said no.

well I got a buddy to solder it back on for me...that way if it bombs it ain't my fault
and it WORKED!!
I hooked it up to the 12v fan connector and INSTANTLY it got cold on one side and hot on the other
if there was any way I could safely use this thing I would... but for now I will come up with something...and then impliment it later on... seeing as I don't really trust this old ricket thing


but the plus side is, it works! and it won't get hot enough to melt the solder

well.. seal your case.. put a large HS on top and a nother inside it, have them connedt to the TEC so it cools the case air. i dont know if it would work, but its an ideal.

i dont know,i dont even know if the TEC and keep up with all that heat... but since your cooling ALL the air in the case.. the condensation will come on the case walls. i think, i dont know for shure. and youd need a hella big HS and fan on top... and i dont know how good one on the inside would work... its just an ideal. why not take an empty case and see how cool it will get inside with out any computer in it... if it takes too long then i dont think it would work... but if it does then you can try a computer inside.
