all of a sudden, my computer decides taht my processor is now an athlon duron 1600 mhz intsead of an athlon xp 1700 tbred ....it was oced to 1650 mhz, but its been that way for awhile without trouble. why is this??

possible BIOS corruption.

i would set it back to default settings for your XP cpu and see if it displays properly.

is it only displaying the chip type incorrectly, but the speed remains the same? you may want to update the BIOS if there is a newer one available (or reflash with the current version).
