MEMORY frequency?

Post by buddhazen »

i got some killer pc2700 from a friend that does 200+ fsb
only problem is on bootup it detects the frequency at 166% on an a7n8x
im runnin at 205x11 on the machine
should i bump the frequency to 200% or leave it on auto so it can read it at 166%
thanks in advance guys

You sure that's not running the processor at 200MHz FSB and the ram at 166MHz FSB ?

yes the processor is runnin at 200 fsb but the ram is at 166 fsb
would it be a good idea to bump the memory to 200 as well since its pc2700?
memory timings are set at aggressive at 2,33,7 or something like that
thanks once again

PC2700 is 166MHz (166x2) , PC3200 is 200Mhz (200x2). You can probably run the ram at 200 if you play with the timings and voltage.

you will get some performance gain running it at 200 fsb, but you will also get some extra heat from theose little electrons zipping through the mobo - the memory will just get unstable if you push it to hard but you probably can kill it unless you jack the voltage way up
