How are the system boards going now?

Post by canton_kid »

Haven't bought the A7N8X Deluxe yet, though still looking.
For those of you who have em, how are they working out now? I know there was thread on these for awhile, but it looks like it slowed or died.

Anything any better poping up lattely, or something as good for less?

I'd like good onboard 5.1 sound, 5 pci slots, agp, all the standardstuff like USB and Ide controller of course. Raid might be nice, probably won't use though, Sata could be useful. I plan to run at least 6 drives though I can install a Promise card it would be nice if the board would run that many at least.
No less than 333fsb and prefferably 400fsb.

Firewire might be nice, I may get that digital camcorder soon.

Check the amd forum, there are several active ones now on amd mobo's.

I still like my a7n8x. It is the non deluxe and it has done me very well so far. The shuttle a35n is a lower cost solution and those who have it seem quite pleased with it. I may be getting one soon to play with.

From what I have read the early A7N8X mobo had some bios issues but with the newer bios they seem like really good boards. I have the Epox 8RDA+ and have been totally pleased with it. Very easy to set up an use. It has been rock stable and very fast. It does not have the dual nic or the SATA controller but I probably would not have used them anyway.

Izzat so? When I was researching what mobo to buy, I chose the Abit NF7-S because in 2 reviews it was stated that they used the highest quality capacitors of any nforce2 mfgr. Also the Asus version is limited in amount of juice ( voltage ) you can lay on the memory. Could be an issue if you plan on overclocking.

Nonetheless, a few people here at PCA have the Asus' and like them. :D

I do agree tho that the Abit NF7-S' PCB is rather ugly. I don't have a window on my case so it's no biggie. I've always preferred function over form. Unlike the French. :laugh
