Both seem like good motherboards. You're gonna get a performance increase with the 875 board due to the Intel PAT. I believe the increase is in the 3-5% range. The 875 board also uses a Promise RAID chip while the 865 board uses a VIA RAID chip. I personally have never used a RAID set up, but I would imagine the Promise controller is better. The only other thing I remember seeing is the 875 board will allow you to use a ATA133 hard drive while with the 865 board you can only use an ATA100 hard drive.

I have no idea what the difference in price between the two motherboard. You'll just have to determine which motherboard will fit your needs the best go from there.

I really don't think you'll go wrong with either of those motherboard though.

not sure if they updated the P4P like they did the P4C, but the P4C800-E now comes with an Intel 10/100/1000 etherenet controller instead of the 3Com ones. Several reviewers complained about the P4C800-D because it came with the 3Com controller instead which supposedly introduced a small CPU overhead for LAN functions.

I have the P4C800-E, it's a fantastic board for what that's worth
My Rig:
P4 EE 3.2 GHz (2MB L3 Cache)
1GB Corsair XMS PC3200
Radeon 9800 Pro (414/365)
Asus P4C800-E Deluxe
(2) 120GB Seagate Baracuda V
Audigy 2 Platinum
