ok, i got the itch to play with a p4 since i have had an intel in a couple years. My p4 2.0 northwood came in today.
System specs are

epox ep4-sda+
northwood 2.0
stock intel hs/f thermal pad removed and reg thermal compound applyed
512 pc 2100
ti4200 overclocked

ok so i have overclocked a intel since the celeron 566 days so im a little behind

I can get her to 2.3 with default voltage after that she needs a bump

right now im @ 2.505 voltage= 1.625-
cpu @full load = 39-43c

my dram freq is 153 x 2
my cpu freq is 125

anyways any suggestions on getting more outa her? Im afraid to go above 1.625-whats safe??
what should i do with my ram
Thanks
Bill

stock voltage on those is what 1.5? i had a 1.6a for a while there and took it up to 1.75 to get it stable at 2.4 Gig... i'm a nut and like to take the risk of blowing stuff up though :D

I have a p4 2.0 northy, that I run at 2.66. I use a P4S533, but I only run it at 1.65v. Supposedly you can run them as high as 1.8 without any cpu degredation.

really you sure? If so i might bump to 1.7 and give her a whirl, whats an exeptable temp?

the p4's throttle down when they get too hot, so temperature is not an issue, but voltage is, and anything above 1.8v is bad. Sudden death syndrome at 1.8v+ happens.

cool im getting 2.5 outa my 2.0@ 1.65 i may bump it up hten, it wont even post at anything higher right now, at what temp do the p4's thermal throttle kick in (i dont want that happening)

If I remember correctly, the P4 CPU will throttle down when the temp hits 66 C.

I have a P4 1.6A on an Asus P4B266C running at 2.24 (140 FSB). Voltage is at 1.525 and I'm using the stock Intel heatsink and fan. My temp are: 35-37 C (Idle) 42-45 C (After Quake 3)
