Northbridge Overheating

Hello... I just got an Xp 1600+ AGOIA and i'm trying to overclock it. I had an athlon 1000 in it, and i couldn't get the system over a 144MHz FSB. I figured it was just the crappy Tbird core, but, I'm having the same problem with my new CPU. My idle CPU temperature is 25C @ 1.47GHz (11 * 133). This led me to look into other things. Obviously my vcore, but i had tried every thing you can think of. Then i thought about the chipset... It doesn't have a fan. It is a MSI K7 Master w/ an AMD chipset (a Tbird board w/ bios updates, supports 2000+). I took my CompuNurse and measured the temperature. 40.5C!!! Is this too hot? This was the temperature of the top of the heatsink, i'm sure the chipset itself it even hotter. Greg suggested i take it off and put some thermal slime on it, the good stuff, which i plan on doing. I was just wondering if anyone had any suggestions about what the problem is or experience of this happening first hand. I also got to the point of getting the "Red Screen of Death" as Greg phrased it... Heh, this is turning into a legend. Please help, I'll be very upset if i can't get this OCing. Also... I can get intot he bios fine @ 140MHz FSB, but i can't get into Windows. 144MHz FSB posts, but freezes instantly. I'm nearly positive it is no Vcore. Thanks for your help in advance.
