ok my cousin just got new parts for his comp.... like a xp 1800+ geforce3 ti500 blah blah...
and he gave his old stuff to me, and its a cele socket 370 500mhz.... the thing is the socket on the mobo has the hooks for the fan broke err. one of them broke... so i was wondering if i could run a cele 500 without a fan..... juss wondering...

thanx

well if it has the 3 lugs like most boards now have just get a HSF that uses all 3 and you'll be fine... but if its old school and only has the single lug your SOL... i wouldn't recommend running it without a HSF... worse comes to worse use some arctic alumina epoxy and glue a heatsink on the chip...

would normal super glue work too?

some mix the super glue and artic silver and say it works, others put 4 dots of glue in the corners and have the artic silver in the rest. it is ok...not nearly as good as artic epoxy.

Try to put some kind of airflow over it, like a case fan and glue a heatsink.

I cant think of any non 3 lug 370 sockets though so if you can pick up a hs mounting with three tabs each end( a few out there) you'll be fine.
