I have a chance to pick up a GA-7ZXE M/B and I'm looking for anyone with experiance with that board.

I searched for reviews high and low and could only come up with one in German! I found a number of reviews with the GA-7ZX (w/ the KT-133 chipset) but none of the ZXE! I also found reviews of the ZR (I believe it was), but after seraching a dozen or so sites, nothing.

The reviews of the ZX weren't that great. I don't know if it was the chipset or the board itself. I'm not a Gigabyte fan, but the price might be right and I'm willing to give it a try. I have the documnentation from Gigabyte but a little insite would be better!

I'm not looking to overclock, or to have the latest, greatest, fastert box on the street (especially from a 1 1/2 year old M/B) but something halfway decent.

Any input would be great and thanks in advance!

Gigabytes numbering system leaves alot to be desired!
The ZX had a KT-133 chipset, the ZXR had a KT-133A with raid and the ZXE had the KT-133 w/o raid.

It's the ZX and ZXR that were tested many times, but the ZXE wasn't!

well the kt-133 wasn't a very good chipset at all. wouldn't run 133 fsb and had a lot of other bugs in it. Thats why the kt133a chipset came out. That was a rock solid chipset. If it was me i think i'd pass on that board.

I use the gigabyte ga-7vrx and I like it. It sux for overclocking though. Otherwise it seems like a good steady mobo. Best looking mobo I have seen. That dual bios might come in handy some day.

PreDatoR; this board does have the 133a chipset! Does that still make you not recomend the board and is it just because of the overclocking or lack of?

If it has the kt133a chipset it should do you just fine. I wouldn't recommend the kt133 to my worst enemy hehe

Overall, the gigabytes are middle of the road performance wise. I've got or had 5 different ones, pretty blue colour!

They still put isa slots into some of their later mbs including the micro I run with a tualitan. Emailed support once and had an answer within 48 hours.

The KT133A is a good solid chipset and lets you keep your sdram.

If price is important, go for it.
